Soft Studio.

I am a musician and sound designer. I have an attraction to hardware as opposed to software. I understand that the majority of what I use is simply hardware installed within a proprietary case and controller, whether it is a keyboard, knobs, or pedals. After years of refusing to admit that I am wasting more time configuring synthesizers and rhythm modules only to hear the creative output of my peers who utilize the simplicity of the VST environment, I have decided to join them. I am not abandoning my hardware. I am giving the VST studio a chance. Granted, I will be using controllers which allow me hands on control over my PC. My goal is to build up a workstation of sorts. There will be a MIDI controller with piano weighted keys, a MIDI controller for programming and editing rhythm tracks, MIDI guitar pedals, and panels of MIDI controllers with only knobs and switches. I want the versatility and the sound quality of what VST has to offer married to the hands on abilities of hardware controllers. I am not sure why I am sharing this among the ether. Perhaps it allows me to visualize my goals. Perhaps I enjoy embarrassing myself. At any rate there are changes coming along. Hopefully I can get back to music soon.
